Frequently Asked Questions on DIY Marquees

marquees

How do I know your marquees are better than the cheaper party tents available? Look at the specifications. Most party tents use 230g/m2 material for their walls and roofs. You can just about get away with using that for walls but roofs are far more important and need something more durable. We use 380g/m2 for walls and 500g/m2 for roofs.
Try to find out how the tents go together – we use eye-bolts to lock our poles together not metal buttons of the style used in caravan awnings.
We only use flame retardant material for the exterior covers and interior linings.
We're moving the day after our party, how long do the marquees take to dismantle? About half the time it takes to erect, so for one marquee around 1½ to 2 hours. I have to be honest and say with moving house the next day I would seriously consider hiring rather than buying in your circumstances.
Can I use a marquee to extend my house? Yes, we would recommend having the 6m (20ft) side against the house as the gable can be lifted to accommodate opening doors and if it rains the water would flow off the side of the roof rather than towards the house.
Can I remove the side walls during the event? Yes of course, very easily. The end panels have zips in and can roll up or be taken off completely, the windows on the side can be removed individually with ease.
