Winter marquees

marquees

Marquees are increasingly being used at times previously thought 'out of season', mainly due to improvements in heating and increased awareness of the capabilities of marquees. Having a marquee during the winter means there are a few more things to consider:
  • heating - the most important point with a marquee in the winter is that guests should walk into a wall of warmth. Have the heaters on well in advance of the first guests arriving.
  • avoid 'cold corners' by having several smaller heaters rather than one large one. With the correct heating guests shouldn't realise it's winter while inside the marquee
  • flooring is essential. If the ground (hard or soft) is prone to water logging then consider having a solid floor that raises the level up slightly
  • guests will arrive with large coats so consider having a coat rail or some kind of cloakroom area
  • use matting or carpet to cover any areas of grass people may walk on
