A DIY marquee gives you the flexibility to make last minute decisions over the positioning of the marquee. The following should be considered when positioning your marquee:
- Unlike pole tents DIY marquees can be erected on hard or soft surfaces (weights should be used to anchor the marquees on hard surfaces).
- Entrances are normally at the end of the marquee but window panels can be removed to create entrances on the side.
- Having most of one side open to the garden will create an informal atmosphere so people can drift in and out of the marquee.
- If the weather forecast is bad try to have the marquee positioned as close to the house as possible (for access to toilets etc).
- If you are using catering staff try to allow them a separate access.
- If you have a large garden position the marquee across the lawn to create a 'courtyard' in front.
- If you have small trees, shrubs or flower beds consider incorporating them inside the marquee, they will add character and decoration but you will lose some floor space.
