If you don't own enough furniture for your event (and let's face it who has 100 chairs stored in their garage?) then the usual option would be to hire them in from a furniture company. www.spaceworks.co.uk is a good example. If however you are hiring catering equipment you may find they can also supply furniture, in which case this would normally work out to be more economical. Some tips for marquee furniture:
- To immediately create an informal atmosphere use different size round tables.
- For an informal meal 5ft round tables can seat 8-10. If the meal is a formal occasion the place settings are a little larger and so a 5ft round table should only be used for 8 or 9. 5ft 6in Round tables are best to seat 10 people in a formal atmosphere.
- Traditional top tables are created using three 6ft long trestle tables. Increasingly people are using large round tables for greater sociability but an oval table with seating on three sides is a nice compromise between the two.
- To avoid a queue when seating have two easels with table plans on.
- If you are having a garden party you would normally have enough furniture for between a third and half of the guests (depending on the age range).
- Have a few spare trestle tables for gifts, hats etc.
- Most tables have a plywood top so will require tablecloths
- Most hired tables have folding legs allowing for easy clearance if the space is required later in the event.
