The beginners guide to party marquees |
| |
|
|
Marquees are the perfect venue for parties, you can decorate them to suit any occasion and for nearly any purpose. Linings, lighting and flooring options give you complete control over your marquee and best of all - you keep the marquee afterwards!
The following pieces of advice are drawn from our years of hiring out and organising party marquees. We are always happy to discuss your requirements in more detail in person or by phone/email. |

Furniture

- For a formal atmosphere use large round tables of 8 or 10. For an informal atmosphere use a variety of smaller tables of 4,6 & 8
- In general parties can have a 'tighter squeeze' for fitting tables in than a wedding
- Even at parties where most people will be standing still have rows of chairs along the sides and occasional tables
- At least one easel is required for formal seating plans

Dance floors

- Decide how much emphasis you wish to place on the evening dancing and position the dance floor accordingly:
- at one end to have dancing as 'an option'
- in the middle for greater emphasis

Bars

People (mainly blokes) will always congregate around the bar. For this reason always position it near the evenings entertainment to avoid having two parties.
Your aim should always be to keep everyone in one place to maintain the atmosphere so avoid having the bar in a separate marquee or in the house.

Other tips
- Always have lighting on a dimmer system to help create atmosphere
- Heating will always be required in October to April. In May and September heaters are used to take the chill off later in the evening
- Think of how your guests will arrive - some red carpet and flower pots are an easy way to create an attractive entrance
- Think of how your guests will leave - it will probably be dark so lanterns or lights may be required
- Colour schemes at a party can be much louder and risky than a wedding
